On our way home from Lake Tahoe, we stopped by Aunt Pat’s cabin to see Baby Avery (if you’ve been following along, you’ve already met him), and secretly hoping Pat would offer me coffee in my favorite mug ever. I have been thinking about this mug since I started this project. Is this not the coolest? Oh, and just in case you were wondering, Baby Avery is both cool and cute. See below (yes, I know it’s not a coffee photo, but it’s my project, so I can show off my wanna be nephew if I want to).

We’ve been in Lake Tahoe for a summer wedding, complete with snow machine. Oh, that was real snow, making Jen and Dave’s May 29 wedding even more magical. Morning after sunny skies…still cold for May though. I tried my first cup on the deck in bare feet with mediocre results. The second, with shoes, much more successful, all the way around.

Exit 208, Washington State. While our roadtrip to Vancouver BC didn’t yield the lovely latte photos I had imagined, it did show up with this, which made me very happy. Unfortunately, I had already downed three cups by the time we found this, so I didn’t try their coffee. Next time for sure.

Yreka, California. Our roadtrip was wouldn’t be complete without a diner experience. There were enough trucker hats and rodeo riders in this one to make us feel compliant. The waitress totally rocked her suspenders, and the coffee didn’t disappoint.

Roseburg, Oregon, halfway through our 1000 mile drive home. Our treat after discovering that our car was missing a window. Shout out to the Holiday Express handyman who figured out how to make it magically reappear from inside the car door, and helped us secure it with duct tape. A much appreciated latte for the road.

Vietnamese Coffee at Uwajimaya Asian Market in Seattle, Washington. After the first sip, I was pretty sure I wouldn’t finish it. I was wrong. Not sure I will do it again, but it was a worthy roadside adventure.

” breakfast and coffee in boulder creek this past sunday morning— it rained alllll night in big basin state park! we hadn’t packed a tent (and hadn’t even planned on camping saturday night) so after being rained on for an hour we moved to sleep in our soaking wet sleeping bags in the bathrooms. yuck! we woke very early and dashed to boulder creek hoping for food. we were so happy to find this warm dry place– it was called rainbow’s end cafe.”
Brooke’s illustration blog Miss U, Love U, and her Etsy shop is Team Blue Bicycle. And of course, her Flickr photostream is here and her portfolio here. And I am pretty sure you can find her and her bike, Homer, at any of Oakland’s fabulous coffee shops.

Wandering Goat Cafe, Eugene OR.
After our pajama coffee, Kathleen and I went to one of her favorite cafes, for a little more. It tasted as good as it looked.

We’re spending two nights with Kate’s boyfriend’s parents, whom we have never met before. Kathleen and I have been online friends, and we were so excited to meet in person. This morning I woke up at 6:30, and she immediately made me a cup of coffee…I took out my camera and she took out hers. How does this happen? I never told my daughter, “when you fall in love, could you please pick someone who will have a mother who will drink coffee and take pictures of it with me?”, but somehow she did. And yes, that’s me in my pjs.
