This one is so pretty, I think  I am going to let it sit by itself today. More cups tomorrow,  but for the moment, one perfect cup to enjoy. Double click on the photo and you can really enjoy it.

coffee break | a short detour to pinterest coffee love

Thought I’d take you on a quick detour between coffee cup 550 and 551. If you are seeking yet another distraction from real life, look no further than Pinterest, my friend.  Pinterest is an online inspiration board…you can create boards from other folks’ pins, or pin anything from the internet. I am sure there are lofty and important ways to use Pinterest, but so far, I just wander about looking for things that make me gasp, laugh or swoon. My boards are here. You should come play, really you should. In the meantime, here are some of my favorite coffee love pins.

From The White Daisies.

From Standard Design on Etsy.

Via Collected Thread.

There’s more…but we’ll save that for another day. Can I warm up your cup? See you tomorrow.

547. newbury street

Judy Fletcher, Davis, CA (taken in Boston, MA).

Judy and Evan were on a college tour with their son, Ian (who is also my friend), and they stopped on Newbury Street just to take a picture for me. Well, that’s not exactly right…they stopped on Newbury Street, enjoyed their coffee, and sent me the pix. Which is just as wonderful. How pretty is this?

546. coffee is a beautiful thing

Last week I was in a wonderful little shop in Davis, Found, and I was admiring this old vocabulary card. The owner decided I should have it and gave it to me. I love that it’s wrinkled a bit…since I tend to find women’s wrinkles beautiful, indeed. Except this is about the coffee…right.

545. dino coffee

Christy, Aka, Urban Muser, NYC.

Christy blogs at Urban Muser and Mortal Muses. And she has a new project that I am especially excited about, Smile at a  Stranger. Christy is leaving notes, encouraging folks to, yup, you’ve had enough coffee to guess it…smile at a stranger today, and then taking photos of them and posting on her Posterous site. Hers are mostly in the subway, where we can all agree, a few smiles will go a long way. She’s invited us to join her on the journey of smile-makers, so of course, I did. I wrote about my first two days of delightful sneaky smile note-leaving on my other blog, Tour of No Regrets, here. Christy also has a Flickr group for the project, here.  I can tell you from experience, it’s a pretty fun project, even if you only do it once. However, I will warn you, it’s addictive. In fact, at this moment, I have three more notes in my purse, just waiting to discover their next assignment.

Oh, and how great is the baby dino?

543. foresthill coffee

Brooke Appler, Oakland, CA. Brooke is a coffee-lovin’-bicycle-camping-artist.

“Taken at the Starlite Cafe in Foresthill, CA, a town about 20 miles northeast of Auburn, high in the hills. It’s the last stop for food, coffee, and supplies before entering Tahoe National Forest. I loved this place! Such a relief to run into in the middle of nowhere.

Nothing like a cup of coffee to turn the middle of nowhere into the center of somewhere, eh?

Brooke’s illustration blog Miss U, Love U, and her Etsy shop is Team Blue Bicycle. Her Flickr photostream is here and her  portfolio here. You can find her and her bike, Homer, at any of Oakland’s fabulous coffee shops.
