“Have you ever wondered what was used before the invention of disposable paper and styrofoam coffee cups? Well, I chanced upon a charmingly retro and nostalgic way of having coffee “to go” in Singapore. The mom-and-pop coffee stall holder would simply reuse the emptied cans of sweetened dairy creamers as a cheap and cheerful way to hold your coffee. I’ve been told that coffee simply taste better when drunk like this. While it may look flimsy, the lid is surprisingly strong. The only problem is that you may lose precious coffee due to spillage (as seen in the photo), but this is part of experience. When you’re ready to drink your coffee, simply pull back the lid using the string. If it’s still hot, you can use the lid as a handle. And when you’ve finished your coffee, you could use it as an impromptu ash tray.”
