“The Café du Monde in the French Quarter of New Orleans is synonymous with late evening and early, early morning, savoring the flavors of the city while enjoying the aroma and taste of that unique blend of rich coffee and chicory. But it also true that beignets are café’ au lait are wonderful in mid-afternoon which is where I found myself during a summer thunderstorm.”

“Slidell, Louisiana sits on the northeast edge of Lake Pontchartrain, north of New Orleans. Leaving home after visiting is always bittersweet but it is made better by sitting in ‘Sunrise on Second Street’ in the early morning, listening to the trains and the rain, drinking it all in while sipping my last café au lait in Louisiana.”
