676. santa barbara saturday

The French Press, Santa Barbara, CA.

Steve and I were driving up the coast yesterday, and made our first stop in Santa Barbara, where the coffee and the people are pretty, fancy and rich. Heh. Seriously, it was great coffee (Verve!) and a wonderful cafe, with two patios. I had several other coffee stops on our list, but this one spoiled us and we had to do with an afternoon of beautiful blue sea and sky instead.

636. nelson the seagull (before)

Nelson the Seagull, Vancouver, BC.

My daughter Kate works in this hip (the lovely, unpretentious version of hip) and delicious cafe in Gastown. Everything, from the tables and chairs, to the open kitchen, the light, and especially the food and coffee, is considered, clean and good. Inviting. Welcoming.  Just so. Another Vancouver cafe that trusts the food and coffee to come as they are.

634. innocent coffee (before)

A perfect little coffee house in Vancouver…one table, one couch, lovely windows, a tiny gallery, the owner, coffee and my daughter, Kate. This is the way it should be, all day long. If you’re in town, you should stop in and say hi. Innocent Coffee.
