250. remembering dad

Hannah Gentiles, Nashville, TN.

I took this photo while my sisters and I were in New Orleans for Christmas this past year. We decided to spend Christmas in New Orleans in honor of our father who passed a year ago in December. The picture was taken while eating beignets and drinking coffee at Cafe DuMonde, the same way we did 10 years prior with our dad.”

If you’ve been following along, you know I love to do something extra special every 25 cups. When this showed up, I knew it was proof that every cup has a story. And then Hannah told me that she connected with the blog through my childhood friend, Craig Jenkins (coffee cups 64 and 156), who was a good friend of her dad’s in Austin, Texas. This is Hannah’s Etsy shop, and her Flickr photostream is here.

I hope you’re willing to linger over this one, as it’s the only cup we’re serving today. Just because some things deserve one more moment.

221. cafe du monde

From Tonya Russ Price, Charlotte, NC.

New Orleans, of course.

Funny, this is exactly where and how I recovered from my epic and slightly embarrassing night fifteen years ago. Though I don’t think I was able to drag myself there until the afternoon.

More of Tonya at Poprock Photography (weddings)  and Biscuit Fan Club (food).
