Nelson the Seagull, Vancouver, BC.
Where one is invited to linger…work, sip, sit, converse, appreciate. Coffee as a conduit to community.

Nelson the Seagull, Vancouver, BC.
My daughter Kate works in this hip (the lovely, unpretentious version of hip) and delicious cafe in Gastown. Everything, from the tables and chairs, to the open kitchen, the light, and especially the food and coffee, is considered, clean and good. Inviting. Welcoming. Just so. Another Vancouver cafe that trusts the food and coffee to come as they are.

A perfect little coffee house in Vancouver…one table, one couch, lovely windows, a tiny gallery, the owner, coffee and my daughter, Kate. This is the way it should be, all day long. If you’re in town, you should stop in and say hi. Innocent Coffee.

Cafe de la Presse, San Francisco, CA.
Yes, it was about the bowl….and the croissant….and the company….and the side table conversation. And the location, and the chairs. But it started with the bowl of coffee. Which is how all Sunday mornings should start.

Zlatka Boncheva, Bulgaria
Last week I received these two delightful photos with this note. “We are Latty-me and Maya-my best friend. We are from Bulgaria. I found your blog and decided that I want to contribute to the project. Maya got the photos so I asked her if I could send them to you. She said yes, so here they are. Thank you! Have a great day!”
I never would have imagined this project would produce coffee from Finland, China, Singapore, Scotland, Australia, Canada, England, Ireland, and now Bulgaria. Wowza. And seriously, how much do you love those gold stir sticks?

Last week I had the pleasure of meeting one of the first and most prolific (12 times) caffeinated contributors, Reina, for coffee. Reina lives in Davis, but we met (and had only communicated) through Flickr. We had a great conversation, but not until after we both pulled out our cameras to photograph our lattes. Mishka’s Cafe, Davis CA.
Help us celebrate our 500th cup of coffee, coming mid-June (perhaps) with a cacophony of phone photos (iPhone, Smart Phone, any phone). Hoping to post at least 50, and mark #500 with a collage of all. Grab your coffee and your phone, and send me what ever grabs you. Soon! And thanks!
