277. cafe 504

Brooke Appler, Oakland, CA.

I had just quit my full-time job and was taking woodworking classes down by Lake Merritt. My friend recommended the nearby Cafe504 and I simply adore it! A lot of the food they serve comes local farms.”

Personally, I like how they make sure your mug matches your book.

Brooke is an artist, bicycle camper, and coffee chronicler. Chase her down at her illustration blog Miss U, Love U, and her Etsy shop Team Blue Bicycle.

217. le cafe

From Azzi Muthy. “This was taken in 2009… a long time ago. It is actually coffee from Mauritius. I took it while i was studying for my exam.”

Seriously, this blog is testing my geography knowledge (or lack of it). Just in case you were wondering, here’s Mauritus.

207. coffea coffee

Natalie, South Korea (see coffee number 206). “Journaling and coffee seem to go hand in hand for me, and coffea coffee provides the perfect atmosphere for this kind of thinking, dreaming and sipping to be enjoyed.”

Visit Natalie’s dreamy blog, Life In Color. And I say, dream on!

197. coffee angel

Phillip Brown, Wollongong, Australia.

“So there I was, another long day at University about to begin. Enough time before class to grab a coffee and relax before the day began. Caramel Latte. I add a little sugar, stir and sip. Glancing down I am greeted with the sight of an accidental coffee angel.”

I asked Phil how the rest of his day went. He said it was a good day, which just goes to prove that a little coffee praise goes a long way.

184. seeing red

Oh, this cup has a story to tell. From April, of Creative Apples.  She’s in Chicago, and you can track her down here (Etsy shop), here (Flickr photostream), and here (Creative Apples blog).

P.S. April just sent me the story of the cup: “My mom just got home from a 5-day hospital stay the day before and she was staying with me to recover. Like a total mom she didn’t want to put me out or make more work for me. She wanted to cook for us (at my house! the day after she got out of the hospital!) so I put my foot down (ha!) and took her to my favorite restaurant in Evanston, Illinois called The Dixie Kitchen. She had never been there, and never had Cajun food, either. It was a fabulous time to bond with her, and to celebrate her! We had a wonderful wonderful evening. I’m so glad that we had that opportunity to spend time together.”

Ah, it wasn’t quite like the story I imagined (which might have included someone named Dixie, but it also included a cowboy, a jukebox and an after-coffee ride in an old Cadillac).  I don’t think mine would have ended as well as April’s!

177. cups and more cups

From Kathleen Fitzgerald, Cup and Saucer, Portland OR. Kathleen is Kate’s boyfriend’s mom, and my friend (though we haven’t actually met in real life….just a wee, minor, barely noticeable technicality).  She knows all I need is some coffee and a mere glimpse of my daughter.
