“My husband loves espresso and steamed milk, not a latte, he likes the proportions more equal. In Europe you get these easily, it’s their small, you don’t have to get the super big gulp like here in the States. Needless to say, if we aren’t drinking booze, we are drinking coffee, just like in the States. Hmmm, maybe we should just stay home… Nahhhhhhhh.”

Janine and her family took a quick trip to Iceland last week. You know, a little coffee, a little Bjork. So while I was at home in Davis, CA, trying to find the gazillionth different way to photograph my morning coffee, she was doing this. Jealous? Yeah, just a little. Stay tuned, we have lots more.

I know you came here for your daily cup of coffee, but trust me, I have something even cooler. Check out artist Jonathan Brilliant’s art installations…built out of 70,000 coffee stir sticks. Imagine the popsicle stick crafts of your childhood all grown up, gussied up and showing up at the gallery as fine art.
He also builds art installations from coffee cup lids and cardboard sleeves. Brilliant.

This weekend we stayed with our favorite friends Kevin and Chip. Dinner, wine, lots and lots of stories (lots), followed in the morning by Chip’s cappuccinos and Kevin’s huevos rancheros. The perfect visit included their practically perfect dog, Jack.
