Palm Springs, CA. From Kevin Cahill, one of my favorite people on the planet. Kevin was making good coffee back when we were students in Chico. And he knew how to serve it….strong and dark, in thick mugs, accompanied by the Sunday San Francisco Chronicle and enjoyed with a house full of friends.

From my Flickr friend, Tammy Lee Bradley.
“Taken with my iPhone 4 while waiting for my dear friend, Charlotte, to join me at Rooster’s Cafe in Jensen Beach, Florida.”
9. coffee people
First contribution! My favorite friend, Alix, from Portland (also referenced in coffee cup #7), taken with her iPhone.
“This is from a place called The People’s Coffee, or something to that effect. The place was so large, and had so many employees cranking out such beautiful cups to such a small clientele, it made me wonder how they stayed in business. They may not be.”
My memories of Portland (pre-Alix) include great coffee at Coffee People, the anti-Starbucks of the day. It looks like they are now an online retailer with only one cafe at PDX. And…(from a comment on Yelp), it looks like they were purchased by a corporate coffee company, who was then purchased by…(you know the answer to this one)…Starbucks.
