557. magic in the morning

Tonya Russ Price, Charlotte, NC.  Taken in Portland, OR.

I had my the photos for today all lined up, and then this showed up in my inbox. Tonya’s on a Pacific  Northwest trip, seeking peace, love and coffee photos. And except for the luggage part, it sounds (and looks) fantastic.

Checked into the Ace Hotel last night, woke up to a magical door, opening up to Stumptown. Beautiful latte, made with love. Oh my. This somehow makes up for my long delays, insomnia and the fact that my luggage is still out partying on US Airways.”

Tonya is a wedding photographer with two blogs, Poprock Photography (weddings)  and Biscuit Fan Club (food).

553. saturday over ice

It’s Saturday, which means there will be a delicious (and I mean life-changing delicious) iced coffee in my near future. This recipe…try it, really. It’s the best.

Also, a chance to shamelessly, and enthusiastically, promote my daughter Kate’s newest project (along with her creative, delightful and oh-so-entertaining beau, Brendan), Mr. Boat-head’s Electrical Dream Ship. Launching in September, story here.

525. a caffeinated engagement party

Danny Gutierrez is all about coffee love. His company, Engage Coffee, stages (among other things) home workshops that engage the participants in the joy of great coffee. This party was at Brooke Appler’s home, in Oakland, CA. Yes, I do know that there isn’t an actual cup of delicious coffee at the end of the post, but I can pretty much guarantee it was there in real life.  Happy coffee cup number 525, and I hope you have one in real life today, too.

Photos (and also the Engage Coffee graphics) by Brooke Appler, Oakland, CA. Brooke’s illustration blog Miss U, Love U, and her Etsy shop is Team Blue Bicycle. Her Flickr photostream is here and her  portfolio here. You can find her and her bike, Homer, at any of Oakland’s fabulous coffee shops.

524. with the beatles

I’ve been a fan since I was five and had a Beatles birthday party (complete with Pin the Head on the Beatle).  When I learned how to write, I personally autographed my Hard Days Night album, thinking I could save them the trouble. Alex has the album now, as well as a few coffee mugs. She has good taste, that daughter of mine.

523. coffee and chocolate

Charlie McDonald, Edmonton, Canada.

“Canada Post was on strike up to a couple of days ago, so I am currently out of my favorite coffee.   Our favorite micro roaster is back home in Thunder Bay. Its called The Great Northwest Coffee Company and they do the coffee up just right. Earlier today I purchase different kinds of coffee locally–in desperation, hoping it will tide us over till our new shipment arrives.I wanted to taste test the coffee tonight so I don’t spoil a nice morning before work.Well the first taste test was not promising. The dark roast tasted more burnt then anything. The second test result was more promising and should not ruin my morning. Oh and there are only three pieces of chocolate on that plate.  I guess I should not have eaten the rest. But it was cappuccino flavored.

Charles has a photography blog at www.cwmcdonald.com.
